In the Fall of 2001, we thought to experiment with some decorative sculpture using the recycled copper and found materials we use for the jewellery. So often in my reading and researching, the concept of 'three' arises throughout many cultures. From ancient times 'three' has always been considered to be the most significant number and was applied universally in all aspects of practical science, art, and symbology. My first series, "The Power of Three" reflects this fascination.

Summer, 2002. As a result of finding, which means 'as is', a quantity of sheet copper flashing, I have been 'working out' - it requires a lot of preparation (and perspiration) to get to the textures which I liked. When its previous use was roof flashing, the 'exposed' side was painted white and sealed with tar in some areas and caulking in others. The underside had turned red and brown from age, which is desirable for my purposes. So with a lot of elbow grease, steel files, propane torch, steel wool and metal shears, I worked the pieces until the components, once again, made themselves, then decided to tell me how it was to come together.
Out of this communication came a series called, "Other Civilizations - Other Cultures".
