About

Alter Eco Environmental Folk Art is located in Toronto, Ontario. We create motivational awards and gifts of appreciation from recycled and found materials for people that matter to your business.

For the last ten year period I was working with Marie Van Schie preparing recycled materials for her unique jewellery designs. Since the past four years Alter Eco, as owner and artist, I have created a social enterprise with a sole emphasis on environmental art, mainly sculpture. During that time Alter Eco has been selling to the domestic market by means of shows, galleries and private commissions.

I am self-taught and have been in the Arts & Crafts Industry for 25 years. My growing concern for environmental and social issues has led me to environmental art.

Alter Eco Environmental Folk Art has been operating since January 2004 having two purposes, to sell our artwork - environmental art - and to communicate the importance of sustainable practises in all aspects of our ongoing interests.

Using recycled and found materials, Alter Eco understands the meaning of a better ‘ecology’, both environmentally and socially.

Our focus is on unique artworks, awards, and gifts from reclaimed metal and found material and we have been selling to the domestic market for over 5 years. We collaborate on projects with other businesses, from artisans to corporations, and, importantly, to inform and educate.

For the past year and a half I have been fortunate enough to supply my handmade, recycled copper frames to the Recycling Council of Ontario (RCO) for their annual award certificates. This has given me the recognition and opportunity to approach other businesses, governments, institutions, NGO’s and non-profits to show them examples of the works I’m proposing.

Vision
Alter Eco has growing recognition amongst the wonderful people we have met and who are trying to make a difference in the world. We will bring this shared value to Industry and Governments who make the greatest impact of all on the world we live in.

Mission
The Future begins now and it is Alter Eco’s intention to achieve, with imagination and commitment through our art, a Social Enterprise to bring a visual representation of your core values and commitment to your clients, suppliers and employees.

We have picture frames, made with recycled copper that were seen on my website and thanks to Rhonda Nolan it was suggested that the Recycling Council of Ontario (RCO) would be interested in using it for their annual awards certificates. These awards are given to major corporations, municipal and regional governments and other industries for their leadership in establishing waste recycling programs. For the past two years I have been supplying them with great success. Last year they included the Arts for the first time and Alter Eco won a second, gold award certificate, and in my own frame!
