Welcome to Alter Eco - Environmental Folk Art
What is environmental art?

Art & Politics
The Environment needs some strategic support in the Oct. 14th Election.

Vote for the Environment has an interesting website that can help you decide where
 your VOTE MATTERS.

A renewed Harper government for 4 years will be a major setback for several major global issues. The Environment is one that is here to stay whether Harper likes it or not. Economics come and go, they work in short-term cycles but NOT Environmental issues.

A vote for the future is NOT A VOTE for Harper.

Vote Strategic! Vote for the Future!

 - Behind the scenes with Planet in Focus. Toronto premiere environmental film festival.
Candice talks to Tonya Surman about the Centre for Social Innovation.
 - We're cooking up organic pizza at Magic Oven

 - In ECO TIPS, picking the right wrap, whats the better option, Plastic or paper? Tune in to find    out.
 - And finally, a look at Alter-Eco environmental folk art.

This episode is a piece of art in itself. Well thought out and presented, amazing resources of clips to illuminate the subject. I was extremely happy with the take on Alter Eco. It is a strange experience to see one's self from the outside, old home movies and near-death experiences excepted. As much as it was pretty intense the editor managed to catch one smile! lol. Just kidding it was a trip. Soon as we getan online link I will post it.

Sept 30/08: We were interviewed by Rogers TV for an October episode of A Greener Toronto! It was totally awesome to be able to show the work that Alter Eco has been doing and to have the message, hopefully, go viral! When I have a date from them you can be sure that I'll pass it on to you. My secrets will be revealed!

Coming up on the show agenda, we will be once again doing the Planet in Focus Eco Exchange on Oct. 25 & 26th from 10 am – 5pm at Innis College, U of T, 2 Sussex Avenue, Toronto, one block south of St. George Street and Bloor Street West.

Planet in Focus: International Environmental Film & Video Festival will be held October 22 – 26, 2008. More then 70 films will be screened, and more then 8,000 people will attend the five-day event.

CBC Employees Charity Christmas Show The date for this year's sale is Wed Dec 3rd, 2008 – more info later

July 26/08: We are really excited to find a group that represents our 'journey' for many years now. GET, Green Enterprise Toronto. Green Enterprise Toronto is a local network of BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living Economies). To find out more about the principles and benefits of a local living economy visit the BALLE web site. This growing movement is part of a philosophy that to avoid immanent global destruction, democracy and human aspirations operate from the ground up, community, rather than from the top down, hierarchy, as has been the disastrous case for the last 5000 years with very few exceptions. I have just finished reading "The Great Turning, From Empire to Earth Community" by David C. Korten; a perspective that is positive, doable by everyone now and infuriatingly irrefutable!! I can't recommend this book highly enough. To order a copy go to our bookstore and and the Amazon links will take you to it - and yes I do make a few sustainable dollars. ;-) Check out some of our other books as well.

June 21/08:
A glorious Summer Solstice and celebrated National Aboriginal Day at my first actual Pow Wow here in Toronto. The energy was powerful and spent the rest of the day absorbing it and contemplating - a day off! lol Also the corporate section has been updated and we are really happy to be working with the Recycling Council of Ontario again and for the first time are honoured to work with Earth Day Canada.

Apr 25/08:
We are in the process of expanding our focus to corporate, government, business and other organizations and the section is still under some construction but is well underway. We will be continuing to develop it over the next few weeks. We feel as much as each individual is committed to change and is making their impact we would like to inspire the larger groups to make a greater impact by promoting recognition of acheivement and appreciative awards and gifts.

Mar 30/08: EarthHour was last night and Just because Stephen Harper left his lights on doesn't mean that he is our enlightend leader. That is my editorial for today.
And on an up note, we are pleased to join with StraightGoods.ca in promoting our art through their new YourDailyClick.ca "featuring activist websites and great online shopping." Where a percentage of our sales goes to keeping the news in perspective.

Another Great Book for a Great Cause -  Canadian Soverignty! The Fight for Canada by David Orchard (see cover in sidebar)

It will give all Canadians courage to call Bush's bluffs and those of his Canadian annexationists lead by Harper.  To quote from the book:
"As at so many other critical times in Canadian history a remarkable individual had emerged." None that I see yet in the mainstream media but perhaps not yet on the radar, possibly, David Orchard. This widely acclaimed book has been called the "Bible of Canadian nationalism." Over four hundred years come to life in clear, vivid language, from the founding of Canada to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). It sketches in a gripping and powerful way the early invasions of Canada from south of the border – in 1690, 1711, 1775 and 1812 – as well as the famous free trade elections of 1891, 1911 and 1988, and what it all means for us today.

July 26/06: See also my article, "Harper and the American Manifest Destiny"

Go to the Bookstore and check out the selection of books mainly about Arts, Environment, Social and some interesting miscellaneous subjects.
